Music

Our acoustically designed room in the heart of Denver plays host to live jazz nightly (Tuesday through Sunday). Check the calendar below for set times as they may vary. Nocturne’s distinctive Artist in Residency programming is at the core of our line up. Most artists who perform at Nocturne engage in a four to eight week run that focuses on the exploration of a musical icon, the study of a jazz genre, or the exhibition of an Artist's own original work. This old-school approach to programming combines the unique opportunity to hone one’s craft with regular stage time, while also establishing an elevated rapport with Denver music fans. Nocturne is proud to be the only venue in Colorado that features jazz exclusively, and we are also pleased to feature national touring artists on special occasions.

ABOUT LIVE MUSIC AT NOCTURNE:

At this time, our live music performances are available by reservation only. By reserving your seat for dinner and a show you can enjoy the live music along with a three course menu by our talented culinary team. You can make a reservation on-line or via phone @ 303.295.3333.

In addition to dining on site, we recognize that some members of our community are unable to join us in person this summer. As such, we'll be live streaming several of our performances for you to enjoy from the comfort and safety of your home. Follow us at https://www.facebook.com/nocturnejazz/ for live streams and recordings of our past performances.

Supporting the musicians practicing their craft on our stage is important to us - your prepaid dinner reservation includes the artist fees that support fair pay to our music community. You can support in other ways such as purchasing music online, physical CD's or sending Venmo tips to your favorite artists. The music community is strong but still working to rebound from a lot of cancelled gigs during the COVID-19 pandemic. Your support of their craft will keep this art form alive.

Description

Mike Marlier - drums, Bijoux Barbosa - bass, Camilla Vaitaitis - piano

Growing up in Sandusky, Ohio Mike Marlier started playing drums at the age of five, and hasn't stopped. A lifetime in music was established from the day he was born, as he was immersed in the jazz records his father played both at home and on the radio station where he worked. Mike attended the prestigious Interlochen Arts Academy in 1975, then went on to further studies at Bowling Green State University - after graduating Mike moved to Denver in 1981. Marlier has performed and recorded with countless artists and musicians, including Dave Grusin, Benny Golson, Bobby Shew, Rob Mullins, the Neophonic Jazz Orchestra, Lee Ritenour and Stanley Jordan. He maintains a vigorous recording schedule, as well as a private teaching studio, a professorship at the University of Denver Lamont School of Music and often can be found adjudicating jazz festivals across the nation. Mike is a Nocturne Artist in Residence alumni and we are honored to welcome him back to our stage with this stellar trio!
