This special performance celebrates the release of jazz vocalist Jenna McLean's first solo album, "Brighter Day," (funded in part by the Pathways to Jazz program). The album is comprised of Jenna's original lyrics and arrangements of celebrated jazz compositions to recognize the remarkable resilience of the human spirit amidst a turbulent world.
The album pays tribute to many of our most influential jazz artists including Wayne Shorter, Carmen McRae, Stan Getz and others. The band for this show is the original band from the record and includes Steve Kovalcheck on guitar, Tom Amend on piano, Seth Lewis on bass and Brian Claxton on the drums. Jenna McLean is a jazz vocalist and Colorado native with degrees in classical vocal performance and jazz studies. Jenna is currently pursuing a doctorate in Jazz Studies at UNC and collaborates regularly with many outstanding Denver talents including Eric Gunnision, Ben Markley, Steve Kovalcheck, Tom Amend and many others. With a love and devotion for jazz, funk, soul and classical genres, she maintains the belief that all music is good music as long as it speaks to the soul and grooves. Jenna is respectful of the privilege she has to use lyrics to communicate to her audiences, and is passionate about bringing creativity and integrity to honest expression through lyrics in the jazz idiom.
A $9 per guest artist fee applies to this show. Reservations recommended!
