Briana Harris Quintet

Briana Harris returns with her quintet to explore new sounds with some of her favorite musical collaborators. The band will perform original music from Briana that mixes hard-bop roots with chamber jazz touches, and always leaves room for unexpected collaboration. The band's high energy set list also includes soul jazz hits and fresh takes on Great American Songbook standards.

Briana Harris is a Front Range-based saxophonist who has performed throughout Colorado with groups including The Burroughs, The Cairn Project, David Caffey, Mark Sloniker, Jim White, Steve Kovalcheck, The Colorado Jazz Orchestra, Matt Smiley, Annie Booth, and Ryan Fourt. She holds a Bachelor of Music Degree in Jazz Studies from the University of Alabama and Master of Music degree in Jazz Studies from the University of Northern Colorado.

Briana Harris Quintet honors Carole King

Celebrate the music of Carole King, one of the most prolific songwriters of the 20th century, reimagined in a jazz setting by saxophonist and bandleader Briana Harris. Sets will include vocal features and instrumental explorations of music from King's career, including well-known hits from her album Tapestry as well as deeper cuts from her catalog. 

The lineup for this series includes Briana Harris - saxophone / vocals, Spencer Zweifel - piano, Matt Smiley - bass, Gabe Mangione - drums

Special guest vocalists include: Kelsey Shiba (February 3rd), Marion Powers (February 10th), Hannah Rodriguez (February 17th), Bailey Hinkley Grogan (February 24th)

Briana Harris is a musician, artist manager, and entrepreneur with a focus on empowering creatives to do their best work. A versatile creator and collaborator, Bri has credits as a saxophonist, singer, songwriter, producer, arranger, and composer. Her debut album as a solo artist, When We’re Found, contains 10 original songs that explore personal stories and venture through an eclectic set of style and genre influences. A saxophonist by trade, Briana is a performing member, manager, and co-owner of The Burroughs, a Colorado-based original funk and soul band. As a performer, recording artist and composer, Briana’s credits include performances with The O'Jays, Colorado Jazz Repertory Orchestra, and Annie Booth; recordings with the David Caffey Jazz Orchestra, the Spencer Zweifel Quintet, Socrates Garcia Latin Jazz Orchestra, and Art Deco; and original music composed for Octave Records and KUNC radio's Colorado Edition program.

She holds a Bachelor of Music Degree in Jazz Studies from the University of Alabama and Master of Music degree in Jazz Studies from the University of Northern Colorado.

Denver based pianist and composer Annie Booth began the piano at a young age and started playing jazz in high school. She went on to study music at the collegiate level, earning a BM in jazz piano performance at the University of Colorado-Boulder in 2011. Annie has become a force in the Denver jazz scene with recent awards as Westword Magazine's winner in the "Best In Denver" jazz category for both 2015 and 2016 and a recipient of an ASCAP Young Jazz Composers Award. In addition to her notable work as a recording artist and bandleader, she is an accomplished side-woman, playing often at Nocturne with a number of bands and very recently featured in the Greg Gisbert Quartet tour of Mexico through the "New York Jazz All-Stars" concert series.
