Our acoustically designed room in the heart of Denver plays host to live jazz nightly (Tuesday through Sunday). Check the calendar below for set times as they may vary. Nocturne’s distinctive Artist in Residency programming is at the core of our line up. Most artists who perform at Nocturne engage in a four to eight week run that focuses on the exploration of a musical icon, the study of a jazz genre, or the exhibition of an Artist's own original work. This old-school approach to programming combines the unique opportunity to hone one’s craft with regular stage time, while also establishing an elevated rapport with Denver music fans. Nocturne is proud to be the only venue in Colorado that features jazz exclusively, and we are also pleased to feature national touring artists on special occasions.
At this time, our live music performances are available by reservation only. By reserving your seat for dinner and a show you can enjoy the live music along with a three course menu by our talented culinary team. You can make a reservation on-line or via phone @ 303.295.3333.
In addition to dining on site, we recognize that some members of our community are unable to join us in person this summer. As such, we'll be live streaming several of our performances for you to enjoy from the comfort and safety of your home. Follow us at https://www.facebook.com/nocturnejazz/ for live streams and recordings of our past performances.
Supporting the musicians practicing their craft on our stage is important to us - your prepaid dinner reservation includes the artist fees that support fair pay to our music community. You can support in other ways such as purchasing music online, physical CD's or sending Venmo tips to your favorite artists. The music community is strong but still working to rebound from a lot of cancelled gigs during the COVID-19 pandemic. Your support of their craft will keep this art form alive.
The Meters' Cissy Strut, Paul Simon's 50 Ways to Leave Your Lover, Steely Dan's Home At Last, and James Brown's Superbad are a few examples of songs defined by iconic drum beats. These beats are as memorable and specific as the lyrics and melody of their respective compositions. Wednesdays in July at Nocturne, the Ed Breazeale Quartet presents a chronology of the most famous and important jazz, funk and pop drum beats. Each evening's musical narrative features the songs associated with these famous beats as well as jazz standards re-purposed to spotlight iconic drum beats. Ed Breazeale is a percussionist, composer and educator who studied with Baron Jon Von Ohlen. Ed has performed with Phil Woods, Terell Stafford, Joel Frahm, Bob Reynolds, Andy Laverne, Michael Rodriguez, Von Freeman, David “Fathead” Newman and Greg Osby.
An $8 per guest artist fee applies to this show. Reservations recommended!
