Coleman Hawkins Tribute Week 2: The Sam Williams Quartet

Coleman Hawkins

Coleman Hawkins was the first important tenor saxophonist in the history of jazz and still remains one of the greatest of all time. Along with a soulful tone, and dynamic approach, he was a consistently modern improviser whose knowledge of chords and harmonies was encyclopedic.

Three Colorado tenor artists (Sam Williams, Keith Oxman, and Peter Sommer) honor the 'Hawk' for his contributions to the art and spirit of the jazz art form.
