WELLINGTON BULLINGS AND THE SCOTT MARTIN TRIO

Sultry singer and songwriter Wellington Bullings is a multifaceted artist from Boulder CO. Growing up with a father from Jamaica, Wellington was exposed to the sounds of Caribbean, Latin, and Motown music in the home, which she has woven into her signature sound.  Her deep love for jazz however started to develop at the age of twelve years old, when she got her hands on a Billie Holiday record.

Wellington’s rare, soulful voice captures the essence of jazz and soul singers of an era-gone-by and her compositions reveal a balance of jazz, soul, and R&B influences.

The depth of her emotion is evident in every piece of music she gets her hands on. As a woman deeply educated in the arts, Wellington has studied at Tara Performing Arts School in Boulder CO, as well as the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston MA.

Scott Martin grew up listening to the his parents classic jazz albums and studying with the house pianist at Washington DC''s Blues Alley Club and eventually the New England Conservatory. He worked as a studio musician in NYC working with artists the likes of Carly Simon, Mariah Carey, and Philip Bailey of Earth Wind and Fire. He co-wrote and produced the title track to the album Magnetic, by Steps Ahead, featuring Dianne Reeves and Michael Brecker. As a jazz pianist, he has played with Mike Stern, Billy Hart, Joe Lovano, Victor Lewis, Javon Jackson, Harry Allen, Ron Miles, Carl Fontana, Pete Condoli, Red Holloway, and many others.

Scott can be heard most Sundays in Boulder at Vic’s Espresso in Boulder, where he hosts a famed noon-time session with a few of the area’s finest musicians.
