Walter Gorra Elevation Trio

The Walter Gorra Elevation Trio aims to uplift and elevate the listener through Walter’s newest original compositions and arrangements. Featuring Gonzalo Teppa on bass, and Alejandro Castaño on drums, these long-time friends and Colorado musical accomplices draw from their diverse musical backgrounds to develop an exciting and fresh sound. The trio does this while respecting the tradition and history of jazz and makes its own contributions to the trajectory of the music.

Walter Gorra is a Colorado-raised pianist, composer, educator and structural engineer. Studying at the University of Colorado at Boulder, Walter earned degrees in jazz piano performance and structural engineering and had the good fortune to study and work with Art Lande, Jeff Jenkins, Victor Mestas and many other notable Colorado musicians. Earning his master’s degree at William Paterson University in New Jersey, Walter had the opportunity to study and work with Jim McNeely, Cecil Bridgewater, Harold Mabern and Bill Charlap among others. During his time in New York, Walter also performed and/or wrote and arranged music for Paquito D’Rivera, Ingrid Jensen, and Pete McGuinness and others. Walter has performed at jazz festivals and clubs throughout North and Central America and won Downbeat and ASCAP Herb Alpert awards for his compositions.

Floor seats are only available for Dinner and a Show Reservations (Music is included with all "Dinner and a Show" packages)

For walk-in guests and bar reservations there is a music fee of $15 per guest.

We respectfully request that guests limit their visits to 2 hours so that we may properly/safely clean between sets.

Nocturne is thrilled to welcome our friend, bassist Mark Diamond and his trio back to the Nocturne stage!

Mark Diamond's hard-grooving acoustic bass sound was birthed in the New York area, where he learned to play many musical styles. In 1980 he moved to Colorado with the band Arabesque and has since been a highly sought after sideman, appearing on over 100 albums, including Grammy award winner Tim O'Brien, Tim and Mollie O'Brien, Sally Taylor, (daughter of James and Carly), James Van Buren with Richie Cole, Keith Oxman, Mary Flower, and Mary Ann Moore. Mark has toured Europe, appears at festivals and clubs across the US and has performed with such legendary performers as Earl Klugh, Nnenna Freelon, Spike Robinson, Richie Cole, James Moody, Ernestine Anderson, Ben Sidran, Peter Rowan, Henry Butler, Fred Wesley, Buddy Tate, (of the original Count Basie Band), Bruno Carr, blues men Eddie Kirkland and Mark Hummel, and New York based jazz vocalists Allan Harris and Tom Lellis.

Ben Markley Quintet: Explorations of a Journey

Explorations of the Journey - Pianist Ben Markley has curated a collection of the music that marks a new chapter in his music development. The set will feature original works from Ben and compositions by visionary living composers (including Herbie Hancock, Ari Hoenig, and John Scofield) who have pushed the rhythmic boundaries of the jazz idiom. The explore these works, Markley has assembled a new cast of musicians who are thoroughly conscientious, unselfish musicians dedicated to shaping sound and serving the music.

Ben Markley is an accomplished pianist, band leader and composer/arranger, active throughout the Rocky Mountain front range and has performed with Brian Lynch, Greg Osby, Eddie Henderson, Terell Stafford, George Garzone, Bobby Shew and John Fedchock and many others. Markley's latest big band recording project Clockwise - The Music of Cedar Walton (OA2 records) earned a coveted four-star review by Downbeat Magazine in Spring of 2017.  Markley is three-time Nocturne artist in residency alum, and is featured on Nocturne's first ever record release.

The Briana Harris Quintet

Briana Harris returns with her quintet to explore new sounds with some of her favorite musical collaborators. The band will perform original music from Briana that mixes hard-bop roots with chamber jazz touches, and always leaves room for unexpected collaboration. The band's high energy set list also includes soul jazz hits and fresh takes on Great American Songbook standards.

Briana Harris is a Front Range-based saxophonist who has performed throughout Colorado with groups including The Burroughs, The Cairn Project, David Caffey, Mark Sloniker, Jim White, Steve Kovalcheck, The Colorado Jazz Orchestra, Matt Smiley, Annie Booth, and Ryan Fourt. She holds a Bachelor of Music Degree in Jazz Studies from the University of Alabama and Master of Music degree in Jazz Studies from the University of Northern Colorado.

Renditions Dinner Series featuring The Matt Smiley Quintet

What happens when an iconic recording inspires a chef and sommelier? RENDITIONS - an interactive five course dinner event where the art of gastronomy and music collide.

This unique fusion of dinner party, jazz concert and creative symposium is Nocturne’s signature event and only available a few nights per year. In addition to an original 5-course tasting menu, this experience includes chats with the musicians on stage, course explanations by Nocturne's culinary team & wine pairing notes by Nocturne's co-owners.

For our 25th Renditions Series, we are incredibly honored to collaborate with jazz bassist/composer Matt Smiley and create five original courses that celebrate the launch of his newest recording project entitled Crankbaitreleased this month on Nocturne's record label.

Ticket includes dinner and music. Guests may pre-purchase sommelier's pairings upon booking, or upon arrival the night of.

Nocturne's full wine & cocktail list is also be available throughout the evening.

We request all dietary restrictions be submitted from your party in advance, as we may not be able to accommodate special requests on the day of the event. Refunds will not be issued to guests who have a limited experience due to dietary restrictions.
