Ken Walker and Friends

Ken Walker started playing upright bass when he was a student at Arkansas Tech University, where he received his bachelor of music education degree. Ken moved to Denver in the mid 1980's and began a 12-year tenure as the house bassist at Denver's El Chapultepec. As a first call sideman he has shared stages with: Eddie Harris, Hal Galper, Tom Harrell, John Abercrombie, Randy Brecker, Nat Adderley, Jimmy Witherspoon, Carl Fontana, Slide Hampton, Clark Terry, Joe Pass, Herb Ellis, Freddie Hubbard, Lew Soloff, Clifford Jordan, James Moody, Javon Jackson, Ray Bryant, Roy Hargrove, and many more. Ken performs regularly at Denver jazz clubs Nocturne and Dazzle and plays regularly at the Telluride Jazz Fesitval, Jazz Aspen Snowmass and other festivals throughout the Western States. He is currently on the faculty at the Lamont School of Music at the University of Denver.

Alex Heffron Quintet

Alex Heffron: Guitar, Wil Swindler: Sax, Taylor Clay: Sax, Seth Lewis: Bass, and Colin Stranahan: Drums


Based in Denver, CO Alex Heffron is a first-call jazz guitarist and composer in the Denver scene. Alex plays regularly with local Denver artists such as Ken Walker, Eric Gunnison, Paul Romaine, John Gunther, Paul McKee, Jeff Jenkins, Gabe Mervine, and Todd Reid. Additionally, as a bandleader he leads his own unique projects that honor the tradition of the music while also looking forward. His music has been featured on stages all across the country, as well as at festivals like the 5 Points Jazz Festival, Telluride Jazz Festival, Evergreen Music Festival, Boulder Jazz and Arts Festival and New West Fest. Alex has studied guitar since he was 9 years old and holds a Bachelors degree from the University of Colorado Boulder.

Seth Lewis Quintet plays Sting

Curated by bassist/composer Seth Lewis, Nocturne presents this a virtuosic quintet of Denver jazz icons exploring the musical works of the legendary, Sting.


Tom Amend - piano, Dave Devine - guitar, Gabriel Mervine - trumpet, Brian Claxton - drums, Seth Lewis - bass, 


Seth Lewis has travelled the world performing and teaching. Seth has played on Broadway and Las Vegas shows and during his time in New York he played Smalls, Smoke, Dizzy’s Club Coca­-Cola, Cleopatra’s Needle and The Iridium. He has shared the stage with Mulgrew Miller, Louis Hayes, Eric Alexander, David Hazeltine, Jerry Dodgion, Randy Brecker, Sheila Jordan, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Greg Gisbert, Dave Liebman, Eric McPherson, Abraham Burton, Josh Evans, Dawn Clement, Alexis Cole, Benny Golson, Jeff Hamilton, Evan Sherman and many others. Seth holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the Hartt School of Music, a Master of Music degree from William Paterson University and a Doctor of Arts degree in Jazz Studies from the University of Northern Colorado. Seth has studied privately with the late Bob Cranshaw, Ron Carter, Christian McBride, Nat Reeves, John Lockwood, Martin Wind, Bill Charlap and Steve Davis.
