Daryl Gott Quartet feat. Neil Hemphill

In December of 2021, Daryl Gott gathered some of his closest friends and musical cohorts to record his debut album as a leader.  Due to a wave of Covid related events, Daryl had to cancel a string of gigs and the recording. This is his second attempt to make this happen. Join the Daryl Gott Quartet featuring Chicago based drummer Neil Hemphill, New York based guitarist Max Light and hometown favorite Tom Amend on the organ for a night of swingin’ standards and originals.

Saxophonist and composer Daryl Gott was born and raised in Denver. He graduated from Denver School of the arts and continued his formal music education at the City College of New York where he studied with saxophonist Jon Gordon. In 2011, Daryl moved back to Denver and began working as a freelance musician. Since then, he has become a staple of the Denver jazz scene. He has played with notable musicians such as Greg Gisbert, Paa Kow, Jason Rigby and Jonathan Blake among others. Daryl recently received a Masters degree in jazz saxophone at the University of Colorado Boulder.

Neil Hemphill is a Chicago based jazz drummer. Originally from Colorado Springs, CO he began playing drums at the age of 16 where he studied under Henrique De Almeida. After graduating from Fort Lewis College with a bachelors in Music Performance, Neil moved do Denver where he performed, toured and recorded with Jeff Jenkins, Greg Harris, Kenny Walker and many others. In 2015 Neil moved to Chicago where he has had the opportunity to play, record and tour with Bobby Broom, Richard Johnson, Sharel Cassity, Dennis Carroll, Geof Bradfield, Black Diamond, Greg Ward and many others. Greg Gisbert Quartet: Monk, Mingus and More

Denver based trumpeter Greg Gisbert is one of the most sought-after and well-respected artists in jazz today. He has recorded and performed with: Buddy Rich, Woody Herman, Clark Terry, Horace Silver, Maynard Ferguson, Bobby Shew, John Fedchock, Harry Connick Jr., Jim McNeely, Toshiko Akiyoshi, and Nancy Wilson. Locally, he is one of the founding members of the group Convergence, nationally Gisbert is a frequent invited guest with an array of ensembles, including the Maria Schneider and Vanguard Jazz Orchestras, the Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra, The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, Carnegie Hall Jazz Band, and Dizzy Gillespie All-Star Big Band.

The Peter Sommer Quintet - New Cool

The Peter Sommer New Cool Quintet presents music inspired by late nights, quiet intensity, lyricism and the simmering burn of American Jazz and Brazilian Bossa Nova. Featuring music by Miles Davis, Lee Konitz, Bill Evans, and Antonio Carlos Jobim, as well as originals by Sommer that allow space for improvisation and dynamic interplay between these fantastic artists. Greg Harris, vibraphone, Annie Booth and Dawn Clement, piano, Michael Rinko, bass, and Kevin Matthews and Dru Heller, drums.

Peter Sommer has contributed his energetic tenor playing and creative spirit to a wide variety of musical projects ranging from mainstream bebop to avant garde and beyond at venues across the nation and around the world. Although rooted in the great jazz tradition of his heroes Duke Ellington, Thelonious Monk, John Coltrane and Ornette Coleman, he continues to search for the mystery in music making and takes great joy in sharing the present moment with the listener. Peter Sommer is Associate Professor of Jazz Studies and Saxophone at Colorado State University in Ft. Collins. At CSU, Mr. Sommer directs Jazz Ensemble I and coordinates the Jazz Studies area. Peter is a D'Addario endorsed Woodwinds Artist.

Dave and his musical cohorts will be exploring the Great American Songbook with a renewed approach to timeless songs with instantly recognizable melodies. This unique series will including songs from the same era composed outside of Tin Pan Alley but of equal importance and lasting influence.

Presented in the unique instrumentation of electric guitar, piano and drums, Dave says of the series: "this will not at all be floaty, ambient, free sonic environment lacking backbone. Nope, this band will be getting after it!"

Hailed as “Denver’s Guitar Guru” by Westword Magazine, guitarist, composer, and educator Dave Devine is known for his virtuosity as a performer, dramatic versatility as an artist. Devine’s recording projects have ranged from experimental jazz (momen terra, Static Trio) and chamber pop (Greybird, Delby L), to jazz metal (Hate Camels), ambient (Mountain Coast), and art rock (DOORS THAT DON’T).

Devine has also recorded and/or performed with Brian Blade and the Fellowship Band (Body and Shadow, Blue Note), John Grant and the Czars (Sorry I Made You Cry, Bella Union) Art Lande, The Barr Brothers, Chuck Prophet, Marc Broussard, Elliott Sharp, Ron Miles, Matt Wilson, Ben Goldberg, and Neil Halstead among others.
