Eirik Haugbro returns to nocturne with a burning quintet (Daryl Gott - Alto Saxophone, Alec Streete - Vibraphone, Jack Dunlevie - Piano, Bobby Wiens - Drums) to pay homage to the great Christian McBride. The ensemble will be performing music from the albums "Kind of Brown" and "People Music", as well as exploring off the beaten path works from McBride's extensive work as a sideman. Bassist/composer/bandleader Christian McBride is one of the titans of modern jazz - his music takes inspiration from piano trio traditions of Ray Brown, hard bob and fusion groups such as VSOP and Chick Corea, to the funky stylings of James Brown.

Portland native Eirik Haugbro, has performed with renowned artists the nationwide and is deeply influenced by the great piano trios of jazz history, drawing inspiration from the music of legends such as Ray Brown and Oscar Peterson. Eirik studied the double bass at Western Washington University and received a master’s in jazz studies from the University of Northern Colorado. He has performed with Pedro Martins, Genevive Artadi, Michael Mayo, John Fedchock and Ali Jackson.
